Everything Guardian watches
A closer look at how the app and a handful of off-the-shelf sensors watch your vessel or rig — where it is, whether it's secure, and the batteries, power, climate, and water systems it runs on.
Knowing it’s still where you left it
Flooding isn’t the only thing that happens to an unattended boat or rig. Guardian watches where the vehicle is, whether it has moved, and whether anyone is aboard — using the GPS already in your cellular gateway, so there’s no extra hardware to buy.
- Anchor alarm: Set a swing radius and Guardian alerts you if you start dragging — and the alert goes to everyone the boat is shared with: your partner, your crew, the neighbor keeping an eye on her. Aboard with the app open, it’s free on every plan — like the in-app flood sentry. Weekender and Cruiser keep watching after you leave, so a drag still reaches everyone with the app closed.
- Theft security zone: Draw a geofence around the slip, the lot, or the driveway. If the vehicle leaves it, you hear about it.
- Presence modes: Tell Guardian whether the vehicle is Aboard or Unattended, and alerting changes with it — the zone arms itself when you leave, and movement that’s normal at the dock becomes worth waking you for when nobody’s there.
- Cameras: Point a supported camera at Guardian and motion becomes a security alert alongside everything else — 1 on Dockside, up to 8 on Cruiser. Guardian handles the events; live view and playback stay in the camera’s own app.
Bilge & high-water alarms
The alert is on your phone the second water shows up — no vendor hub in the middle to be the weak link.
- Nothing in the way: each sensor reports straight to Guardian — no extra box to buy, no third-party cloud to go down at the wrong moment.
- Instant push notifications: Get alerted on your phone the moment a leak or power failure is detected — native push on Android today (iPhone via the web app; a native iOS build is on the roadmap). Away push alerts are free on every plan.
- Automated emergency actions: On vehicles with a paid plan and a city-water valve, a critical alert triggers the valve to close — locally while a device is on your network, with a cloud auto-shutoff fallback for when you're away. The alarms themselves are free on every plan.
12V battery & shore power health
Your rig runs on its 12V system. Guardian keeps a constant eye on it so you never wake up to a dead bank or a thawed fridge.
- Precision voltage tracking: Graph house and starter banks over time and catch deep discharge early.
- Shore power status: Know the instant a marina or campground pedestal drops AC.
- Climate awareness: Temperature and humidity monitoring, to catch mold risk and frozen pipes before they cost you — add a Shelly Plus H&T and it lands under Systems › Climate.
- Reliable hardware: Built on the low-power Shelly Plus Uni and Shelly PM Mini Gen3.
Automatic water shutoff
On a city-water hookup, Guardian integrates deeply with LinkTap smart valves to stop a burst line before it does real damage.
- Real-time flow metering: See exactly how many gallons are moving through your plumbing, second by second.
- Volume & rate limits: Set a ceiling on usage — if a fitting fails and flow runs away, the valve closes itself.
- The valve rides the plan: Adding a LinkTap valve, opening and closing it from anywhere, run programming, and the automatic shutoff all come with the paid plans (Weekender and up).
- Local gateway: The LinkTap Gateway is driven directly on your network, with no cloud latency when you're aboard.
Works aboard, with or without internet
Off-grid, your safety systems shouldn't fall apart just because there's no cell signal. Guardian is built to run on your own network first.
- Instant aboard: on the boat's own Wi-Fi, readings and taps are instant — internet optional.
- Seamless away: step off the dock and the app follows you — same view of the boat, wherever you are.
Share the vessel, not the password
Boats and rigs are rarely a one-person show. Guardian shares access per vehicle, with roles that match how much you trust each person's thumbs.
- Three roles: Full Admin, Monitor & Control, or view-only Monitor — your marina neighbor can check on the boat without being able to open the water.
- Per-vehicle plans: The vehicle carries its plan, a bit like Plex — everyone you share with inherits its features at no extra cost.
- One owner, always: Each vehicle has a single owner, and ownership transfers cleanly when a boat changes hands.
- Simple invites: Invite by email — Guardian sends the invitation, and the other person accepts in the account portal or inside their app.
History that tells the story
A single reading says "fine." A week of readings says "your charger is slowly losing the battle." Guardian keeps the story.
- On-device history, always free: Water usage and events are recorded on your device on every tier.
- Kept for you: The Weekender plan keeps about a month of history you can see from anywhere; Cruiser keeps up to 3 years at ~30-second resolution.
- CSV export: Cruiser exports your usage history for spreadsheets, insurance, or your own analysis.
Free core, everywhere
The core app is free on every platform. Optional hosted Weekender & Cruiser plans cover automatic remote monitoring, history, and extra alert destinations.
- Desktop native (Tauri): A lightweight, fast app for macOS and Windows — perfect for the nav station.
- Mobile native (Capacitor): Android APK with real native push notifications.
- Web dashboard: Launch instantly in any browser, nothing to install.
